If you would like to read my next novel before it’s out, why not join my beta team?
Currently, I’m accepting Beta Reader Applications for my novel Death and the Maiden. Although I have already sent out the manuscript to my betas, I’ve still got a few spots available.
If you’ve never done any beta reading before, the prospect might seem daunting, but honestly it isn’t. You don’t need to be a writer – or an editor – to be a valuable beta reader. If you love reading – and especially if you love reading literary fiction and/or dark fantasy – you already qualify!
All a beta reader needs to do is read the book and provide honest reader feedback to the author. I won’t require you to send me an in-depth analysis of the manuscript; that’s an editor’s job, and beta readers are no editors.
What I expect from my beta team
When you join my beta team I will send you the beta manuscript of the novel, and will expect you to read it and send me your feedback by April 15, 2022.
This shouldn’t be too hard. Death and the Maiden is not an extremely long novel – about 200 printed pages – and as mentioned above, your feedback does not need to be in-depth. I just want to know how you, as a reader, experienced the book.
Did the book hook you? Could you relate to the characters? Did you spot any plot holes or other glaring mistakes? That’s in a nutshell the kind of feedback I’m looking for.

If, after reading this, you would like to become a part of my beta team, please fill out the application form and I’ll get back to you as soon as possible.
